  • What are your prices?

The price of propane fluctuates with the temperature outside. If it's colder, it's going to be a bit more expensive, while in the warmer months, it will be less expensive.
  • What is considered a full propane tank?

Per law, we can only fill a propane tank to 80% for safety.
  • Do I need to winterize my propane equipment?

No! According to our team, propane freezes at -44 degrees, so no need to winterize your propane.
  • Do you offer same-day delivery?

Yes! At Robbins Propane, we are proud to offer same-day propane delivery.
  • Do you deliver propane in Castroville and nearby towns?

Yes. Robbins Propane delivers to Castroville and surrounding communities daily. New to propane, call us at (830) 931-3333, and we’ll help you choose the right tank and delivery plan.

  • What size propane tank do I need for my home?

It depends on what you run on propane:

    • 120–125 gallon: water heater, fireplace, or a couple of small appliances
    • 250–330 gallons: small homes or several appliances and heating
    • 500 gallon: large homes, estates, commercial, or ag use.  We’ll size your tank based on square footage, appliances, and your usage habits.

  • When should I call for a propane refill?

Call us at (830) 931-3333 when your gauge reads 20–30%. That gives us time to schedule delivery and keeps your system running safely.

  • Is propane safe for my home and family?

Yes. Propane systems are safe and highly regulated. Tanks and appliances include built-in safety features, and propane has an added “rotten egg” odor, so leaks are easier to detect. Robbins Propane provides professional installation and annual safety checks.

  • How do I check my propane gauge?

Lift the lid on your tank. The round dial shows a percentage full (not gallons). Tanks are filled to about 80% to allow for safe expansion. If you’re under 30%, give us a call.

  • What should I do if I smell gas (rotten-egg odor)?

    1. Shut gas off at the tank then leave the area immediately.
    2. Do not flip switches or use phones near the leak.
    3. From a safe location, call Robbins Propane at (830) 931-3333. We’ll inspect, pressure-test, and relight appliances once it’s safe.
  • What happens if I run out of propane?

For your safety, we’re required to inspect and pressure-test your system before restoring service.

  • Do you install propane tanks?

Yes. We install above-ground and underground tanks, and handle permits. We’ll help you choose what fits your property, budget, and long-term plans.

  • Is propane cost-effective vs. electricity?

In many Texas homes, propane heats faster and can be more economical than electric heat or water heating. High-efficiency propane appliances can lower monthly energy costs and keep your home comfortable during cold snaps.

  • Will my propane appliances work during a power outage?

Yes, most propane appliances and propane generators operate independently of the grid. That includes stoves, water heaters, fireplaces, and whole-home generators (some appliances still require minimal electricity for controls/ignition).

  • Do you offer commercial or agricultural propane?

We do. From restaurants, shops, and warehouses to ranches and farms, we fuel forklifts, heaters, grain dryers, irrigation engines, and generators. Ask about volume pricing and scheduled service.

  • Do you offer cylinder exchange or refill?

Yes. Bring your BBQ or RV cylinder to us for safe refill or exchange. We inspect valves and ensure proper fill so you’re ready for weekend grilling or trips.

  • How long will a 500-gallon tank last?

For whole-home heating, a full 500-gallon tank often lasts 3-4 months in winter, depending on your home size, insulation, thermostat settings, and how many appliances are on propane. We can estimate the burn rate for your specific setup.

  • What’s the minimum order for propane delivery?

Minimum order delivery is 100 gallons. Call us at (830) 931-3333 to schedule your delivery.
